Job Description:
Madison College invites applicants to apply for the position of Internal Communications Coordinator in our Organizational Development area within the Human Resources Department. This position promotes two-way communications between leaders and employees of Madison College. They assist the Director of Employee Learning & Organizational Development by implementing communication strategies across the organization and partnering with key departments on their employee communications needs.
The Internal Communications Coordinator is responsible for deciding and executing the day-to-day operations and processes of our internal communications function. This includes creating fresh, creative, and engaging content for our intranet as well as advising senior leaders and departments on their internal communication needs.. They maintain knowledge of trends in technology and digital communications and implement new ideas to keep us on the cutting edge. They develop and analyze metrics to assess the effectiveness and impact of internal communications initiatives and tools, and recommends actions based on those metrics.

This position is located in the vibrant and diverse city of Madison, Wisconsin's 2nd largest city and state capitol. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Create a holistic internal communication system to engage employees with consistent and valuable messaging. Craft and implement effective internal communications tactics to execute the internal communications strategy. Manage all aspects of news content on the college intranet. Design and communicate processes for story intake from employees around the college for intranet publishing. Plan, edit and write content as well as design the layout for internal communication channels, including a staff intranet and email newsletter. Proofread and edit content from others around the college, often with a rapid turnaround required. Manage and interpret user trends of technology platforms to ensure the right implementation and strategy for organization's culture. Initiate and test new technologies to enhance our communication culture. Advise and create communication plans for variety of departments and initiatives throughout the college, including senior leadership. Advise and coordinate with senior leaders on internal communication response to situations which affect organizational perception and reputation. Devise and implement internal communication activities to support and drive employee engagement and positive behaviors. Monitor digital platforms and employee conversations in order to support the culture, engagement and connections of the workforce.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrated knowledge of modern internal communication principles. Demonstrated ability to conduct focus groups or listening sessions. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Confidence to work with senior leaders and explain communication techniques to them. Deep experience with technology, especially digital, video, and social means of communication, especially as they relate to internal communications. Understanding of working in the public sector and higher education. Demonstrated ability to establish priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Proven project management ability to take projects from conception to successful completion.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's Degree, preferably in communications, journalism, public relations or a related field.
**Experience used as an equivalent of an educational requirement is in addition to any experience required by the position. **
2. 5 years of relevant communications experience, preferably with progressive responsibilities.
Within those 5 years of experience, must have:
- At least 2-3 years of experience in managing news content and layout for an intranet or other internal communications experience.
- Experience executing modern internal communication tactics within a strategic framework.
- Experience with a variety of digital channels in relation to internal communications.
- Experience collaborating with and advising senior leaders.
- Experience organizing work priorities and leading others.
