Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is seeking a dynamic Parent & Family Programs Coordinator to foster meaningful connections between the university and the families of its students. In this role, you will develop and manage family engagement programs that provide essential resources, guidance, and support to families of both incoming and current students. By facilitating communication and creating opportunities for parents and families to connect with the university, you will play a pivotal role in supporting student success. Working closely with the Associate Director of First-Year Experience & Family Programs, you will educate families on important issues and resources, ensuring they are informed partners in their students' academic journey. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about community building and student achievement.

Summary of Responsibilities


  • Responsible for day-to-day operations for Parent & Family Programs through administrative management and customer service support. Assists with communication and engagement with families through established communication channels. Manages the day-to-day communication with parents and families and serves as the first point of contact via phone and email.
  • Works directly with the Associate Director in the planning and execution of major new student and family events, including Orientation, Freshman Convocation, and other parent & family programs, events, and services. Supports ongoing design, facilitation, and assessment for annual Parent & Family Programs events.
  • Oversees and maintains the Wolverine Family Connection portal, a multi-department collaboration that provides a centralized portal and communication channel for UVU parents and families. Coordinates all components of the platform including content creation, data integration, publicity to campus partners, and maintaining the parent and family database. Curates content from departmental contacts and helps to develop additional content based on needs identified from communication with UVU parents and families.
  • Coordinates all marketing and communications for Parent & Family Programs, including website management, social media management, email campaigns, print materials, promotional items, and the Wolverine Family Connection portal and newsletter.
  • Develops initiatives to proactively engage with, inform, and support all families as they navigate the UVU experience. Identifies and creates touch points for parents and families to connect to UVU. Works with divisional and campus partners to evaluate current programs and provide recommendations for new programs and initiatives to serve UVU families.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required, plus two years' experience related to the job description.
  • Experience with event management, programming, customer service, or some related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience working with parents and families in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with large-scale events and orientation programming.
  • Spanish and multi-lingual proficiency allows us to better serve UVU students and families.

Knowledge
  • Knowledge of parent/family needs and trends in higher education.
  • Knowledge of student success strategies, specifically for first-time students and their parents and family members.
  • Knowledge of orientation program development and major campus program planning; working knowledge of other student services programs.
  • Knowledgeable and familiar with customer relationship management.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality requirements regarding FERPA regulations.
  • Knowledge of Banner student data management and best practices preferred.
  • Knowledge of UVU processes, resources, and values.
Skills
