Job Summary

Responsible for leading and planning billing and collection operations for medical clinics for self-pay and insured patients. Design, implement, and enforce policies and procedures. Streamline effective billing and collection processes.

This position has been identified by Federal Law (Jeanne Clery Act) as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) with significant student and campus responsibilities. CSA's are obligated to report crimes reported to them that occurred on campus, in public areas bordering campus, and in certain non-campus buildings owned or controlled (leased) by the University.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures, while continuously monitoring and refining workflows to identify and address deficiencies, including planning and implementing quality assurance processes
  • Oversee and maintain proficiency in software used for revenue management, including understanding relevant service contracts
  • Handle special projects and additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor, ensuring smooth operations within the department
  • Process claims promptly to ensure timely billing and maximize revenue collections
  • Monitor monthly aging reports and follow up on unpaid claims, taking corrective actions to re-bill for reimbursement when necessary
  • Review accounts receivable aging and payment reports monthly to identify trends, underpayments, and issues
  • Investigate causes of payment discrepancies and collaborate with Health Services Leadership to resolve them
  • Provide monthly updates to the Supervisor on the status of the revenue cycle Ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer-specific regulations in billing and coding practices
  • Verify the accuracy of submitted medical codes to prevent errors and ensure proper reimbursement
  • Stay updated on CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding changes and communicate necessary updates within Health Services


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • Associate's Degree OR Five (5) or more years of related work experience

Required Experience
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in insurance billing/collections and/or management


Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Medical coding certification

Preferred Educational Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in healthcare administration or related field

Preferred Experience
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in insurance billing/collections and management


Proposed Salary

$55,126 - $65,000

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
