Position Description

Under the direction of the Senior Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions Recruitment (Senior Associate), the Senior Assistant Director of Admissions, FTIC Recruitment (Senior Assistant Director) represents Seattle University's educational opportunities to prospective first time in college and transfer students, their families and the high school and community college guidance counselor community. The Senior Assistant Director also provides leadership and mentorship to the FITC Recruitment Team and provides support to the Senior Associate in ensuring that first year recruitment efforts run smoothly.

The ideal candidate will be a resilient and innovative problem solver, possess strong interpersonal skills that enable them to develop positive relationships and provide personalized attention to students throughout the admissions process. They must also have a passion for providing leadership and mentorship to the Admissions Counseling staff.

The Senior Assistant Director manages an assigned recruitment region where they are responsible for organizing recruitment activities and communicating directly with prospective and admitted students and supporters, as well as college and high school counselors. They are also responsible for the review, evaluation and initial undergraduate admission recommendation for applicants in accordance with university selection criteria. Working closely with campus stakeholders, the Senior Assistant Director executes strategies to meet Seattle University's undergraduate enrollment goals. The Assistant Director is expected to attend all major admission events (preview days, open houses, etc.). Evening and weekend work is required, and frequent, particularly in the fall and spring seasons.

Essential Functions:

This position provides information to prospective students, family members, secondary school counselors, transfer advisors and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process about the University's distinct academic opportunities. Plan and implement recruitment activities for assigned schools and territories including 10-12 weeks of travel. Meets with prospective Seattle University students through high school and community college visitations, campus interviews, on and off-campus information sessions and admissions group presentations and workshops. Individualized admissions counseling to diverse populations is an essential responsibility for this position. In collaboration with the Assistant Director of Admissions Marketing participates in the ongoing strategic communications with prospective students and counselors, including email, print, and other media. Responsible for the development, planning and delivery of on and off campus recruitment events and programs. Provides support for the Senior Associate in recruitment operations as well as leadership and mentorship of Admissions Counselors.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and three years professional work experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential job functions. Must possess well-developed organizational skills, confidence in speaking publicly to both large and small groups, strong oral and written communication skills and establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. A commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and supporting diverse student populations. Knowledge of college admission trends and issues in higher education. Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and federal and state privacy laws.
Experience using an ERP and CRM, specifically Ellucian Colleague system, Technolutions Slate CRM.
Knowledge of financial aid trends and issues.
Experience working with diverse young adult and youth populations.
Experience with creative marketing, media production, and social media management focused on or targeted to young adults.

Compensation at a Glance

Salary Range: $40 per hour

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.
