Director of Early College Access

Massasoit Community College has been involved in comprehensive early college programming for nearly 20 years, through the Commonwealth Dual Enrollment Partnership and more extensively through the Gateway to College program. Understanding the significant role that early college plays in closing the achievement gap, increasing college participation, and improving completion rates, the College centralized its efforts by establishing the Office of Early College Access in April 2018. This department comprises seven dedicated full-time staff members, including the Associate Dean, who work closely with local high schools to provide high school-aged students with access to and preparation for higher education.

The Director manages, administers, and assesses established Early College high school partnerships. In addition, the Director supports resource allocation, efficient systems and processes, and data analytics for continuous improvement. This position contributes to all aspects of the department, including advising and supporting students ad hoc, design and deliver training/workshops, and any other administrative and operational necessities.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Support the Associate Dean of Early College Access in all operational aspects of the department including budgetary systems for the department to ensure compliance with all funding sources; generate and track course contracts.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for established high school partnerships providing strategic support to ensure the compliance of college policies and procedures; improve efficiency and standardize processes, i.e. application, registration, course selection, etc.
  • Identify data driven needs and opportunities to improve department efficacy and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with established partner school districts to exchange accurate college and district mandated reporting information including grades, transcript information, and enrollment status.
  • Adhere to all administrative guidelines and deadlines of the Collective Bargaining Agreements for full-time and part-time faculty and staff.
  • Recruit, orient, supervise, and evaluate professional staff associated with the established early college partnership.
  • Develop and manage electronic resource databases for faculty via CANVAS.
  • Develop and maintain streamlined electronic processes for early college application, orientation and information sessions.
  • Develop and deliver presentations; convene, chair, and serve on committees on college and community committees/boards.
  • Support the Associate Dean of Early College Access in all operational aspects of the department including planning, development, implementation, supervision and reporting of department services, policies and procedures; create and maintain a supportive atmosphere for students, faculty, staff and the public.
  • Perform other administrative functions and duties, as assigned.


Job Requirements:
  • Master's degree.
  • Minimum three years' experience working in higher education, preferably in a community college.
  • Minimum three years demonstrated experience working with diverse populations (e.g., cultural, ethnic, socio-economic, gender, sexual orientation, religious, etc.).
  • Competent in analyzing data, maintaining files, and preparing reports.
  • Effective communication skills (oral/listening/written).
  • Experience in developing and presenting workshops and/or classes.
  • Ability to effectively solve problems and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and collaborate with multiple groups.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Computer skills (MS Office, Internet, Banner, Access, Excel, Power Point).
  • Knowledge of career, vocational, technical programs.

Preferred:
  • Knowledge of early college programs and higher education ecosystem.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with and be sensitive to students and staff of diverse identities such as socioeconomic level, sexual orientation, race and ethnicity, including those with different levels of academic preparation.
  • Self-starter who is detail-orientated with knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Previous budgeting/fiscal management experience and appropriate math skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships and partnerships, both internal and external
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to handle multiple demands and competing deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be available to work days, evenings and weekends, based on needs of the Office of Early College Access and its students.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others on a team.
  • Aptitude for variety and changing expectations with an ability to independently take initiative and work efficiently, exercising reasonable judgment in a fast-paced, multi-tasked environment .
  • Experience with critical evaluation of complex educational systems through the lens of equity and inclusion.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and demonstrate problem-solving skills, while maintaining diplomacy, courtesy, professionalism, and a customer service attitude.

Additional Information:
Position Status: Full-Time Non-unit professional. The Early College Access Program is grant funded (non-state appropriated funds).

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, including occasional nights and weekends

Salary: $83,507 - $108,557 (annually), commensurate with education and experience.

Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites and additional locations as necessary.
