In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Job Summary
To support the delivery of patient care services and clinical education through the management of the optical service in the Western University Eye Care Institute
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Individuals must possess the knowledge, as well as the following skills and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Mathematical ability to add, subtract, divide, multiply, calculate percentages
- Language ability to read professional literature, provide patient education, read insurance and third-party payer information
- Reasoning ability to problem solve quickly
- Must be a self-assured, experienced leader who is able to interact with senior executives, anticipate potential problems, and initiate solutions. Must be able to manage a crisis with upset customers or calm a faculty member, staff member, or student.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to interact with administration, faculty, staff, students, and patients in a highly responsive and professional manner.
- Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and be flexible with job assignments.
- Basic knowledge of optical services and optical business practices. Ability to manage business aspects of an optical service and ability to provide direct patient care for optical services.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Licensed optician certificate program
- Experience: 3-5 years experience in a large clinical practice or institutional setting
- Experience with ophthalmic equipment required
- Level of familiarity with optical service terminology and optometric patient care terminology required
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
