Position Description
Seattle University has an opportunity for a Web Content Specialist responsible for elevating the online user experience through content writing and data analysis.
This position, reporting to the Web Content Strategist and collaborating closely with the Creative Director, Visual designer and other key university stakeholders, will be responsible for creating, managing, and optimizing content to ensure it is engaging, informative and aligned with the organization's goals. The role will also serve as the primary point of responsibility for collecting, tracking, and analyzing website data.
Primary Duties
Web Analytics (50%)
- GA4 Configuration: Set up GA4 properties, custom dimensions, metrics and data streams.
- Conversion & Event Tracking: Implement and manage customer journey milestones (key events) and custom events in GA4.
- Google Tag Manager: Deploy and manage tags, variables and triggers across various platforms.
- Siteimprove Configuration: Set up the Siteimprove dashboard to monitor metrics on the SU websites.
- Data Privacy & Compliance: Ensure compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and other data privacy regulations.
- Audience Segmentation: Create and manage audiences for remarketing and analysis and establish predictive metrics.
- Reporting & Visualization: Create regular reports and visual dashboards in GA4, Looker Studio, and Siteimprove to communicate key metrics and performance indicators to stakeholders.
- Data Presentation: Present data in a clear and actionable format and provide recommendations based on insights derived from the data.
Content Management (50%)
- Content Creation: Developing original, compelling, and SEO-friendly content for Seattle University websites.
- Content Organization & Management: Organizing, categorizing, and structuring web content to ensure easy navigation and accessibility for users.
- Content Publishing & Updating: Use the Terminal 4 content management system (CMS) to publish, edit, and update content and ensure consistency in style, tone, and branding across the website.
- SEO Optimization: Conduct keyword research and apply SEO principles to optimize web content for search engines.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct regular content audits and reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand guidelines.
- User Experience: Collaborating with web and visual designers and developers to enhance the user experience and usability of the website.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Characteristics
- Proficiency in using analytical tools and technologies like Google Analytics, Adobe analytics, Excel and data visualization tools such as Power BI or Google Data Studio.
- Proven writing, editing, website management, client service and interpersonal communication skills.
- Good understanding of SEO principles, keyword research, content strategy, accessibility, and governance practices.
- Proficiency in working within Content Management Systems (Terminal 4, Cascade, Drupal, Wordpress etc.)
- Ability to write in clear, compelling language specific to various channels, even when the subject matter is complex.
- Ability to generate multiple ideas and inspire creative excellence in colleagues.
- Experience working as part of a web team with large cross-functional units and internal groups.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to influence key individuals and teams internally.
Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with Google Analytics, including GA4.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in writing for the web and digital marketing copy.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, data analytics, or related field.
- Experience writing creatively, while also complying with university standards and the university's official Editorial Style Guide (similar to AP Style rules.) Proficiency in UI/UX, error states and UX writing and SEO best practices for copywriting.
- Proficiency in collaborative tools such as SharePoint, Google Docs, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, CMS and project management platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands on experience with GA4
- Experience with data visualization tools (google data studio, looker studio etc.)
- Experience with content optimization tools (Siteimprove, SEMrush, Monsido etc.)
- Experience working in higher education.

Compensation at a Glance
Salary Range: $75,000
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate's gender or any other protected status.

Hybrid Eligible
This position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule after successful completion of an introductory work period of 3-6 months. This may mean that a hybrid eligible role will begin on-campus initially and then will transition to hybrid format following onboarding and training. Flexible work plans are subject to periodic review and may be changed or terminated at any time for any reason at the university's discretion.
