ABOUT THE POSITION
Long Beach Community College District is seeking a dynamic, qualified, and experienced individual to join our faculty as a full-time instructor in the Global Trade & Logistics program. The successful candidate will teach logistics, supply chain management, and related courses, while contributing to curriculum development, industry expertise, and departmental activities. The position is tenure-track, and the faculty member will be expected to participate in professional development, service to the college and community, and continuous improvement of the program.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teach a variety of logistics, supply chain management, and related courses to students at the certificate and associate degree levels.
  • Develop curriculum and update course materials, syllabi, and assessments aligned with industry standards and student learning outcomes.
  • Provide academic advising and career guidance to students, supporting their academic and professional goals.
  • Participate in department and college-wide committees, including curriculum review, program assessment, and institutional planning.
  • Stay current with trends and advancements in logistics and supply chain management, integrating new technologies and practices into course content.
  • Maintain regular office hours and engage in student support activities outside of class.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and industry professionals to ensure the relevancy and effectiveness of the Global Trade & Logistics program.
  • Engage in professional development activities and maintain knowledge of best practices in teaching and learning.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Master's in business, business management, business administration, accountancy, finance, marketing or business education
    OR
    Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in economics, personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.)
    OR
    Bachelor's in economics with a business emphasis AND Master's in personnel management, public administration, or Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.) or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.)
    OR
    the equivalent

    All candidates must demonstrate
    Evidence of a sensitivity, understanding, and ability to manage the classroom environment AND effectively provide instruction to community college students of diverse academic, socio economic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.

    Desirable Qualifications:

    • Master's of Business Administration (MBA) or similar degree with three years of work experience in Logistics or Supply Chain Management OR a Master's degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management, or a closely related field, from an accredited institution.
    • Recent experience teaching logistics, supply chain, or related field at the post-secondary level, including educational and/or instructional preparation in logistics, supply chain, transportation management, inventory management, or related field.
    • Industry certifications such as Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM), Certified Logistics Associate (CLA), Certified Logistics Technician (CLT), or similar credentials.
    • Ability to teach courses in logistics, supply chain management, and related subjects at the community college level.
    • Understanding of the community college mission and the diverse needs of the student population.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and industry partners.
    • Commitment to student success, including the ability to engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds
    • Evidence of student success in teaching logistics and supply chain and participation in student success initiatives in post-secondary settings.
    • Evidence of innovation, scholarship, or leadership in the teaching of logistics or supply chain.
    • Evidence of experience in curriculum development, including non-credit and pathway development.
    • Desire and demonstrated ability to participate actively in department, division, and college committees and the shared governance of Long Beach City College.
    • Experience with online or hybrid teaching methods and instructional technology, including Canvas learning management system.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative instructional strategies.
    • Experience working with industry partners or participating in workforce development initiatives.
    • Experience with Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) software, as well as Microsoft Office and Google tools
    • Experience in marketing academic or career programs to local business and industry, as well as to potential students in the community.
