Job Summary:
Clinical assessment and intervention for children with obesity, malnutrition, disordered eating, diabetes, and associated behavioral health concerns within an interdisciplinary team. In addition to clinical excellence, faculty is expected to demonstrate interest and skills in the areas of quality improvement, research/scholarship, teaching and training related to World Health Organization designated spectrum of nutrition - from undernutrition, micronutrient deficiency to overnutrition/obesity. This licensed clinical psychologist will identify psychosocial and environmental barriers to making behavioral change and collaborate closely with the clinical team to expand capability to provide evidence-based techniques to create sustainable change in health-promoting lifestyle behaviors.
This psychologist will provide care both in person and via the well-established telehealth model currently occurring in clinical programs and related interdisciplinary clinics related to the Nutrition Section. The psychologist will also collaborate closely with medical providers to establish and create a continuity of care and will partner with social work and family navigators to refer out to other mental and behavioral health partners when appropriate. The team will work collaboratively with the psychologist and provide opportunities for scholarship. Clinical care is on the Anschutz medical campus in Aurora, and potentially Network of Care sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Initial assessments will serve to support a decision tree and a standard operating protocol for our providers to assess and then refer patients to an appropriate fit and level of behavioral health services.
- Psychology assessments, individual, family and group interventions related to nutrition-related behavioral challenges.
- Individual, interdisciplinary, and multidisciplinary comprehensive assessment of behavioral concerns.
- Faculty participates and contributes to the training of psychology externs, interns, and post-doctoral fellows as well as medical students, residents, and medical fellows. Training may include supervision and didactic presentations.
- Faculty contributes to program development including involvement in ongoing QI projects.
- Faculty is expected to demonstrate scholarly interest and activity. This may include clinical research, developing new interventions, care pathways, scholarship, clinical care guidelines, process, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Faculty is expected to contribute to collegial and citizenship activities in the Section of Nutrition and related clinical programs
Work Location:
Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Assistant Professor:
- Candidates must be eligible for licensure, or a licensed psychologist in
- Colorado.
- Graduate of an accredited Clinical, Counseling or School Psychology
- program or the equivalent
- Graduate of an APA accredited psychology internship
- Completion of Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pediatric Psychology
Condition of Employment:
- Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
- Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications:
- A history of successful clinical activity related to the field of pediatric psychology, and specifically interest in nutrition
- A history of interest and demonstrated experience or interest in clinical and scholarly activity in the field of pediatric psychology.
- Demonstrated experience in evidence-based assessment and intervention with pediatric psychology related to nutrition and other comorbid conditions.
- Demonstrated teaching and training experience in pediatric psychology.
- Three (3) or more years' experience with pediatric diagnostic assessments and or diagnostic differentials.
- Complies with hospital and medical staff by-law requirements of the job
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Familiarity and expertise with medical and behavioral concerns related to malnutrition, obesity and related co-morbidities e.g., Type 2 Diabetes, spectrum of disordered eating, family dynamics, and typical psychological problems in children and adolescents
- Expertise with the full range of behavioral ramifications associated with nutrition concerns.
- Familiarity and expertise with assessment instruments used with children and adolescents in the areas of focus
- The ability to create strong and respectful relationships with patients and colleagues.
- Demonstrate scholarly interest in nutrition and associated conditions.
- The ability to provide thoughtfully planned evidence-based intervention and treatment for children, adolescents and/or their families in the focus nutrition areas related behavioral challenges.
- Ability to plan and implement innovative and patient centered care delivery pathways for and families struggling with spectrum of nutrition challenges and related conditions.
- The ability to embrace and help to sustain a vibrant, positive team environment with respect for providers, nursing, support staff, and patients.
- A people-first, strength-based approach to collaborating with a pediatric patient population to ensure best outcomes.
- The ability and/or interest in the provision of supervision for trainees and training for colleagues.
- The ability to complete timely and appropriately accessible documentation of patient care

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:
Assistant Professor: $110,000 to $120,000
