About the Department:
The John Goodwin Tower Center for Public Policy and International Affairs seeks to bridge the gap between the world of ideas, scholarship and teaching, and the practical application of ethical public leadership and responsibility among undergraduates. The Tower Center is a nonpartisan, academic center that values diversity of thought and encourages all parties and views to be heard in a marketplace of ideas.
Tower Scholars are members of the selective, multidisciplinary Tower Scholars Program through which they earn a minor in Public Policy and International Affairs. The minor enables students from a variety of academic backgrounds to combine their academic interests with experience in the real world of public policy.
About the Position:
This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
This role's main responsibility is to manage the day-to-day operations of the Tower Scholars Program, the Tower Center Student Forum and administer various student fellowships. The position will run all facets of an active, experiential program of approximately 30 students, divided by cohorts, in addition to about 10 students fellowships and myriad student and alumni engagement programs/activities.
This roles includes recruitment, retention, and development of Tower Scholars students. This role will also handle all student engagement for the Tower Center. This includes interacting with various internal and external constituencies; developing overall student engagement strategies and activities for the Center; supporting our Center's Student Forum and Alumni Group; running logistical key aspects of the Tower Scholars Program, like the selection process, induction ceremony and the D.C. trip; constantly interacting with students.
Essential Functions:

Executing all activities for the Tower Scholars Program (TSP); coordinate the promotion and selection process for the TSP, planning travel and other experiential learning opportunities; meeting with Tower Scholars individually or in group. Execute practicum placements; give information sessions and other presentations to promote TSP; and support the TSP Faculty.

Working with other areas of the Center to plan and implement Program and Student Engagement opportunities information for the website, marketing materials, handouts, publications, social media, blog and newsletters. Help with promotional and marketing materials for student engagement.

Planning, coordinating and executing all student engagement activities for the Center, including recruitment for the student fellowships and other activities to support academic aspects, including students meet course requirements for the program; promoting and implementing Center student Fellowships; and lead for the Center's Student Forum & Alumni group.

Support the Center Director and Special Advisor on special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree is required.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience is required. Candidate with experience in student engagement or alumni relations is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate broadly across the University and develop and maintain effective relationships with a wide range of constituencies. Must also demonstrate strong written communication skills. Candidate must have the ability to communicate across different age groups and different populations, including students, faculty, staff and donors. Must have the ability to handle deadlines and work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills.
Candidate must have a working knowledge of Zoom, social media and project management software.
Candidate knowledge of SiteCore, WordPress, Mailchimp, Survey Monkey and Qualtrics is preferred.
The ability to communicate in a second language is preferred.
