Position Announcement

Under the direction of Custodial Services supervises the full-time, part-time and temporary custodial personnel in proper floor care, cleaning, furniture set-up/moving and safety procedures. Regular rotations between work areas are a required component of this position and will be implemented at the supervisor's discretion.

This position will work Monday - Friday from 4:15 pm - 1:15 am

Summary of Responsibilities

Supervises and trains full-time, part-time and temporary custodial personnel in all custodial operations. Trains and ensures safety in working with hazardous chemicals, cleanup of body fluids, ladders, lifts and other equipment. Adheres to department cleaning, lock-up/unlocking, and furniture set-up in order to provide proper facilities cleanliness. Maintains inventory and issues supplies to custodians. Helps the campus and facilities maintain a good public image by providing a safe, clean, comfortable environment conducive to learning. Performs and ensures the daily maintenance and cleanliness of custodial equipment. Reports building and equipment repair needs to the Custodial Supervisor. Assumes duties of custodian, other leads and some duties of the custodial supervisors in their absence. Builds team cohesion and unity while addressing potential discord between team members.

Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Graduation from a standard senior high school or the equivalent AND one year of full-time custodial experience, including some supervision. Part-time experience will be prorated.

Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from a standard senior high school or the equivalent AND any combination of post-high school and/or full-time paid experience related to the summary of duties, totaling one year. (Licenses/Certifications:)

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Knowledge
Knowledge of training in proper use of hazardous chemicals and products. Knowledge of cleanup and proper protection from body fluids. Knowledge of pest control. Knowledge of all floor types such as, cement, wood, vinyl, and ceramic tile as well as carpet fibers, weaves and backings. Knowledge of waxes/polishes, acids, common cleaning chemicals, buffers, extractors, vacuums and scrubbers. Knowledge of general maintenance operations.
Skills
Good interpersonal communication skills. Good interpersonal, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Computer use such as Microsoft Office Suite and CMMS software (desktop and apps).
Abilities
Ability to supervise and provide on-the-job training. Ability to perform heavy lifting with the ability to expend arduous physical effort and to work in conditions that may involve some hazards and considerable discomforts. Problem solving, prioritization, and delegation.
