The Counseling Department in the College of Education has four CACREP-aligned programs: Clinical Mental Health Counseling On-ground (CMHC), Online Clinical Mental Health Counseling (OCMHC), School Counseling On-ground (SC), and Online School Counseling (OSC). Each program focuses on preparing emerging counselors to be social change agents and advocates for diversity, anti-racism, equity, and inclusion (DEI). The Chair of this newly formed unit will shepherd the department through a time of innovation, organizational change, and rapid growth of new degree programs including fully online, blended learning, and traditional in-person degree programs. In addition, we seek a leader who is committed to fostering the development of both tenure-track and term faculty while building community and belonging within the department and College. Successful candidates will join a social justice-oriented College of Education informed by Seattle University's commitments to inclusive excellence, diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Counseling Chair is responsible for a growing faculty including tenured and tenure track faculty, clinical/teaching faculty, adjunct faculty, and full-time staff. Across diverse types of faculty, the Counseling Chair will demonstrate the ability to foster strong community and collaboration within the Department.
