Job Summary


The Engineering Education (ENED) Program within the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Colorado Boulder is searching to hire an Associate or Full Professor. The faculty member will mentor doctoral ENED students, and their research should focus on Engineering Education or Computer Science Education. The professor will be rostered in one of the six departments in CEAS, where their tenure will be housed: Ann and H.J. Smead Aerospace Engineering Sciences; Chemical & Biological Engineering; Civil, Environmental & Architectural Engineering; Computer Science; Electrical, Computer & Energy Engineering; Paul M. Rady Mechanical Engineering. The faculty member is expected to contribute to both the teaching and service missions of the Engineering Education Program and their tenure home.

Engineering Education (ENED) is an interdisciplinary program in CEAS that offers a PhD degree. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Successful candidates will be expected to engage in undergraduate and/or graduate teaching in the home department; ENED doctoral student teaching and mentoring; develop an externally funded research program in Engineering Education; contribute professional leadership and service to ENED, their department, the college, and their professional community; and cultivate and contribute to the inclusive excellence of our academic community.
  • The typical distribution of work for this role is 40% teaching, 40% scholarly and creative work (research), and 20% leadership and service.

  • Applicants must have earned a research doctorate in a field of Engineering or Computer Science, Engineering Education, or a relevant field (e.g., STEM, Education, Psychology).
  • Candidates being considered for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank must meet University standards and unit criteria for tenure and promotion to the designated rank. These criteria generally include having an established and ongoing program of original research, a strong publication record, a demonstrated ability to obtain external funding, and a record of high-quality teaching and mentoring.
