St. Catherine University and the School of Nursing invite applications for a eleven (11) month, full-time Assistant Professor and Simulation Specialist position for our Master of Science in Nursing Entry Level program.
The Assistant Professor and Simulation Specialist is responsible for using teaching and educational theories/methods to meet the learning outcomes of entry level MSN students, and enable attainment of program objectives. Primary responsibilities in the simulation setting include needs assessments, planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating simulation-based learning across the continuum from standardized patients through low, mid, and high-fidelity simulations. Secondary responsibilities in the simulation setting include supporting faculty development, operations of the program, and the adherence to policies and procedures. Other teaching responsibilities may entail the development and implementation of didactic courses, and clinical education. All faculty are expected to participate in service to the School and University, and sustain a program of scholarly activities. This position reports to the MSN-Entry Level Director and works closely with the Director of Simulation.
Responsibilities:
- Teach graduate level nursing courses for persons without prior experience in nursing, primarily developing and leading simulations for entry-level MSN students, but may also teach in clinical settings, classroom settings, and additional graduate courses as needed.
- Scholarship goes beyond the curriculum development work that goes along with being an effective teacher, and may take many different forms, including but not limited to publications, presentations, grants, editorial work, multimedia presentation and emerging forms of information technology, and work in progress.
- Activities that may contribute to the Program/Department, School, College, University, or professional organizations instate/regional/community settings, or national/international settings.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in nursing or related field. If doctorate is not in nursing, the candidate must hold a baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program.
- Experience using healthcare simulation methodology.
- Eligible for, or currently possesses, unencumbered RN license in Minnesota. If selected for the position, the candidate must successfully obtain an RN license before starting employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification as a Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE).
- Certification as a Clinical Nursing Leader (CNL).
