The Department of Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of cardiothoracic surgery. Applicants must have an M.D and/or Ph.D or equivalent degree. They must also be certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery or equivalent or eligible for such certification.
Teaching responsibilities may include instruction of medical students, surgical residents, and fellows.
Clinical responsibilities may include supporting the multidisciplinary cardiac surgery team, treating coronary artery disease, valvular disease and thoracic aortic disease as well as our TAVR program. Opportunity to become an active participant in our Translational Center of Excellence; Penn Aorta Center for the appropriate candidate.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include participation in clinical research on topics in the field of adult cardiac surgery and thoracic aortic disease.
The successful candidate will be a member of Penn's Division of Cardiovascular Surgery and will practice primarily at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. He or she will partner with a highly accomplished group of consultative and interventional cardiologists.
