Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Family Programs is responsible for developing and executing strategies to engage the parents, families, and supporters of prospective and currently enrolled Georgia Southern students. The Assistant Director, in partnership with the Director of New Student and Family Programs, develops and implements events and communications that help facilitate engagement and affinity across the University. The Assistant Director of Family Programs consistently exhibits service, collaboration, and excellence as championed by the Division of Enrollment, Marketing and Student Success.
Responsibilities
- Manage all family communications and events through the Eagle Family Portal (CampusESP).
- Supervise a Family Programs Graduate Assistant.
- Plan and implement family programming across three campuses to meet the needs of student families and supporters, including Family Weekends and off-campus social events.
- Advise the Parent & Family Association and Family Council, the dues-paying family organization.
- Attend monthly Family Council meetings and serve as a liaison between the University and the Council.
- Manage Parent and Family Association memberships and support recruitment and retention of members.
- Collaborate with Advancement to develop philanthropic initiatives targeting current family members and supporters.
- Plan, organize, and lead Supporter Orientation during SOAR.
- Assist the Coordinators of New Student and Family Programs with SOAR preparation and coordination during peak times.
- Stay informed about national family program trends through professional development opportunities and participation in professional organizations.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree

- Three (3) or more years of related work experience

- Four or more years of related work experience
- Experience planning and implementing orientation and retention programming for students and/or supporters
- Previous philanthropic/fundraising experience
Proposed Salary
$55,000 - $58,656
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
