Type of Assignment: Full-Time Faculty

Position Available: MiraCosta Colleges Career Studies department invites applications for one equity-minded, full-time 195-days-per-year, tenure-track faculty position, beginning in July 2025. Principal responsibilities include providing career assessments, exploration, and career counseling to students; developing the curriculum for and teaching internship studies and work experience education courses; collaborating with instructional and counseling faculty, Academic and Career Pathway (ACP) leads, and librarians to incorporate experiential and work-based learning throughout the curriculum. Developing active collaboration strategies with Academic Success and Equity (ASE) program faculty and staff to provide career information, exploration, and preparation guidance to disproportionately impacted students; continually investigating, sampling, and evaluating various career exploration and preparation tools and determining which are most likely to lead to a high probability of success for students and how the tools may be incorporated into the education and career development process; coordinating and assisting with various Career Center events; representing career and life planning, internship studies, work experience education, and the Career Center at district, regional, statewide, and national meetings, events, and conferences and serving on relevant committees and workgroups.The selected candidate will collaborate with other full-time instructors in leading curriculum development and using culturally responsive teaching and student support methods.RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT:MiraCosta College Board Policy 7800: Employee Residency requires all full-time faculty to maintain and permanently reside in a principal place of residence in the state of California that is within two-hundred (200) road miles from the employees regularly assigned district worksite. The purpose of the policy is to promote efficiency and continuity throughout all campus administrative functions, provide students with high quality assistance and accessibility to all academic and campus services, ensure that students receive an engaging education, and respond to emerging student needs.The District may consider an individual request to temporarily reside outside of the State of California or outside the 200-mile limit on a case-by-case basis, not to exceed twelve consecutive months.

Compensation: Initial salary placement is based on education and experience and ranges from $94,661 (class I, step 1 1.1080 time factor for 195 on-duty days per year) to $158,472 (class VI-doctorate, step 10 1.1080 time factor) on the 2024-2025 Annual Salary Schedule. Minimum Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, you must meet and provide evidence of the following minimum qualifications:
1. Master's degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, or marriage, family and child
counseling;

OR

2.Master's degree in "Education, Concentration: Counseling"; "Education: Counseling Option"; "Education: Counseling and Guidance Concentration"; "Education: Educational and Clinical Counseling"; "Education: Educational Counseling"; "Education: School Counseling"; "Guidance and Counseling"; "Marriage & Family Counseling"; or "Social
Welfare" (approved comparable degrees at MiraCosta College);

OR

3. Bachelor's degree in any of the majors listed in (1) above AND a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) license valid in California;

OR
4. the equivalent. Applicants who do not possess the EXACT degree major(s) required to meet the minimum qualifications must attach an equivalency narrative and supporting documentation at the time of application. OR
5. a fully satisfied, lifetime California Community College credential authorizing instruction/service in the appropriate subject matter;
