Salary Expectation: $72,305 to $81,343 annual salary (Note: The salary will commensurate based on education and occupational experience).

LOCATION: Lakeshore College - Cleveland, Wisconsin

POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) develops goals, strategies, and initiatives aligned to the College and Teaching and Learning Center missions. The Director works with Instruction and student support services to promote an effective teaching and learning environment that empowers staff, faculty, and students to access the full range of learning opportunities that the College affords in achieving their educational goals. The Director leads the strategic development, implementation, and continuous enhancement of instructional design initiatives, supporting faculty and advancing student learning outcomes through innovative, evidence-based practices. Provide an exceptional customer service experience to both internal and external customers throughout every interaction.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Other duties may be assigned):

(50%) Teaching and Learning Center

Lead and direct Teaching and Learning Center operations, including supervision and management of staff, aligning professional development activities to college goals and initiatives, and ensuring compliance in employee training and education in accordance with college policies, administrative code, and state requirements.
  • Oversee the design, delivery, facilitation, and evaluations of internal training and development programs and processes, including, but not limited to New Employee Orientation and Onboarding, Team Development Day, annual compliance training, performance reviews, ongoing professional development (SumTotal administration), mentoring, job shadow program, leadership development, etc.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop, plan, and deliver educational events and ongoing professional development (i.e., CBE Days, Diversity Summit, Learn Lead Succeed), etc.
  • Coordinate multiple channels of outreach including TLC newsletters, employee portal, online learning platforms (such as SumTotal, Percipio, LinkedIn Learning, webpages, etc.) to engage and encourage employees and students to complete activities.
  • Oversee and coordinate employee participation in external development programs (i.e., WLDI, Inspiring Leaders, Chamber Leadership programs)
  • Provide oversight and leadership in state reporting and compliance of Faculty Quality Assurance System (FQAS); support faculty development, demonstrate understanding of instructional design principles, learning theory, and instructional technologies.
  • Develop, implement, and manage strategic initiatives related to teaching and learning, such as the creation of learning communities and student success initiatives. Work closely with faculty and staff to align instructional practices with student support services and enhance retention and student success.
  • Ensure compliance of annual ongoing professional development requirements in subject-matter expertise, instructional excellence, student success, and compliance. Oversee and manage policies and procedures related to faculty and staff professional development and employee performance reviews.

(30%) Teaching Excellence and Faculty Development
  • Champion faculty development programs and workshops on effective teaching strategies, inclusive practices, and emerging pedagogies.
  • Champion innovation in teaching and learning, including the integration of technology, active learning strategies, and experiential learning opportunities.
  • Lead and coordinate faculty development initiatives focused on competency-based education, online and hybrid learning, and inclusive teaching practices.

(20%) Instructional Design
  • Lead the adoption and integration of innovative instructional design frameworks, such as competency-based education (CBE), to support diverse student learning needs and modalities.
  • Establish and manage training programs for faculty on instructional design methodologies, online course development, and technology tools that enhance teaching and learning.
  • Oversee and support instructional designers in applying best practices in pedagogy, instructional technology, and assessment within their courses.
  • Ensure that training and resources are available to support faculty in designing inclusive and accessible course content for all students.
  • Oversee the development of instructional design resources, such as templates, guides, and toolkits, to streamline course development processes.

MANAGER ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for the direction, coordination, supervision, and performance management of team members.
  • Set clear expectations by establishing roles, responsibilities and setting goals for team members.
  • Monitor and assess performance, holding team members accountable, and providing ongoing feedback.
  • Provide guidance and support through training, mentoring, and open communication.
  • Carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the College's policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure cohesive college operations.
  • Address and resolve any conflicts or issues that arise in a timely manner.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment encouraging teamwork, recognizing achievements, and promoting inclusivity.
  • Develop team members by identifying strengths, creating development plans, and offering growth opportunities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Master's degree in educational leadership, business, organization development, human resources, library information science, or other closely related discipline from an accredited college or university required.
  • Three to five years' minimum of recent progressively responsible management experience required. Prefer previous experience in higher education setting.
  • Teaching experience (higher education), preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
