Job Summary


The Paul M. Rady Department of Mechanical Engineering, in the College of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Colorado Boulder, invites applications for a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor. This position will support the Department of Mechanical Engineering and fulfillment of the department's educational mission, with a particular focus on both undergraduate and graduate courses in the areas of design and manufacturing.

This is a non-tenure track appointment, and the position will report to the Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The anticipated start date for this position is August 14, 2025.

This position is anticipated to be hired at the Assistant Teaching Professor rank; however, qualified candidates may be considered at the Associate Teaching rank.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • The typical distribution of work for this role is 80% teaching and 20% leadership and service.
  • The selected candidate will be offered a multi-year contract which may be renewable; specific term length will vary based on start date.
  • The position involves teaching five engineering courses per academic year on the CU-Boulder campus, beginning the Fall 2025 semester.

What We Require


Assistant Teaching Professor:
  • Candidate must have earned a doctorate degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field.
Or
  • A master's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field and at least three years of experience teaching or working in a related industry.

Associate Teaching Professor:
  • For a candidate to be considered for appointment to the Associate Teaching Professor rank, the applicant must also have a minimum 6 years of teaching mechanical engineering or a closely related field at a higher education level and meet unit criteria at this level.


What You Will Need

  • Successful applicants would have demonstrated strong teaching ability and will be able to teach both lecture and lab-based courses.
  • Must demonstrate a strong commitment to high-quality undergraduate and graduate engineering education and active engagement in the mechanical engineering field.
  • An interest in improving both undergraduate and graduate engineering education is desirable.
