We are seeking a dedicated Cosmetology Technical Assistant to support the operational and administrative needs of our cosmetology program. Key responsibilities include auditing student timecards, maintaining inventory and requisitions, preparing state-required reports, and assisting with chemical compound preparation for cosmetology use. Additionally, the role involves managing clinic schedules, compiling financial reports, and providing information to clients and students, ensuring compliance with the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology requirements.

WORK SCHEDULE:
  • Tuesday through Thursday: 12:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (unpaid break from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.)
  • Friday: 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
(+5% shift differential paid for hours worked beyond 5:00 p.m.)

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:


  • Audit student timecards, recording and posting daily attendance for possible inspection by the State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology.
  • Assist in maintenance of inventory of supplies and materials and the typing of requisitions for the supplies and equipment.
  • Disperse and mix chemical compounds related to cosmetology.
  • Answer telephones, direct calls, provide course information, describe clinic information to clients.
  • Compile daily cash receipts and reports.
  • Prepare and post daily clinic and weekly clean-up assignment sheets.
  • Coordinate and prepare reports required by the California State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology such as pre-application forms, filing for state examinations, and submitting final documents of completion.
  • Prepare and issue Certificates of Achievement forms upon completion of program by students.
  • Prepare monthly report of daily receipts for division dean.
  • At the request of a supervisor, shall perform a variety of unscheduled duties normally and traditionally performed by a Cosmetology Technical Assistant.





MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of general clerical experience.
  • California State Cosmetology license.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES - May be representative, but not all-inclusive, of those knowledge, skills and abilities commonly associated with this position.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Knowledge of Data Safety Sheet.
  • Knowledge of Cal/OSHA compliance with lab maintenance and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of dispersing and mixing chemical compounds.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge.
  • Knowledge of office methods and procedures.
