Executive Director of Institutional Research
The Institutional Research Executive Director provides leadership and coordination for institutional research in support of the college's mission, strategic planning, student learning, and continuous improvement efforts. The Executive Director supervises the Institutional Research team and works collaboratively with college senior leadership and other campus units to fulfill expectations of compliance reporting with state, federal, and external entities; leverage institutional data to guide business decisions at the senior level; guide data needs for program and college-wide accreditation and ensures data integrity in the fulfillment of data requests from campus units. The position's primary responsibility is to develop, implement, and assess effective strategies to collect, report, contextualize, and submit timely and accurate college-related data to various stakeholders. As an important advisor in strategic planning, the Executive Director is expected to stay current on higher education trends and to have expertise in multiple measures of data analysis to define student, academic, enrollment, financial, and institutional success.
DUTIES:
- Data Management and Analysis for internal and external audiences
- Manage multiple projects, reporting needs, and timely distribution of results to all stakeholders ahead of deadlines.
- Recruit, orient, supervise, and evaluate full-time and part-time professional staff to support Institutional Research goals.
- Adhere to all administrative guidelines and deadlines of the Collective Bargaining Agreements for relevant full-time and part-time staff.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, professional growth, and development.
- Prepare and present reports on key performance indicators, enrollment trends, retention rates, and other metrics.
- Create and manage dashboards and visualizations for self-service tools and platforms.
- Responsible for prioritizing and creating internal reports and responding to requests, including census reporting, prioritized ad hoc reports, and data analysis.
- Serve as lead researcher and advise on matters of survey research, data collection, and reporting, especially in terms of protecting privacy and ethical use of data, as well as procedural and technical considerations
- Foster a culture of data-informed decision-making across the college.
- Collaborate with other departments to support institutional goals and initiatives specifically related to strategic goals and institutional effectiveness.
- Work with Grants Office and College Leadership to advance the goals of the strategic plan through data informed decision making and planning.
- Serve on Accreditation, Enrollment, Enterprise, and Strategic Plan related committees.
- Represent the College at DHE and other meetings
Job Requirements:
- Master's degree required; bachelor's degree with several years of direct experience in institutional research may be considered.
- At least 3-5 years of experience working with large, longitudinal data sets.
- Prior senior management/supervisor experience or relevant departmental or program leadership.
- Strong proficiency with MS Excel, statistical software (e.g., SPSS, SAS or R), and query tools (e.g., SQL, Brio/Hyperion or Argos).
- Experience with reporting software such as Tableau.
- Understanding of enterprise systems (e.g. Ellucian Banner).
- Strong hands-on analytical and project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities in an extremely fast paced environment while meeting tight deadlines.
- Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work well independently, lead and be a part of a team.
- Experience in higher education preferred.
Supervisor: Reports directly to Vice President of Academic Affairs
Additional Information:
Position Status: Full-time benefited Non-Unit Professional
Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday - Friday
Salary: $115,124-$149,660 is commensurate with experience and education.
Worksite: Assignments will include all Massasoit sites and additional locations as necessary.
