Job Summary:
The Organizational Leadership Program at Eastern Washington University (EWU) invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position to begin September 2025.

The primary teaching area for this position will be organizational leadership in the graduate program. An ongoing research agenda and service to the university, college, and program/school are also required for tenure-track appointments.

All faculty are expected to actively participate in curriculum development, assessment of student learning, and effective teaching, including teaching practices and interactions with students, with emphasis on student retention and a culture of belonging.

The candidate selected for this position will be expected to engage primarily in online teaching. Currently, all courses in the program are taught asynchronously in 6-week accelerated terms.

The candidate selected for this position will have a primary faculty office located on the Cheney, WA campus.

Additionally, the ideal candidate selected for this position will have interest in the potential to assume program director duties for the MS in Organizational Leadership Program in the future and in accordance with the bargaining agreement.

Required Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree in Organizational Leadership, Leadership Studies, Management, Organizational Psychology, Education, or in a related field, required at the time of appointment
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching organizational leadership coursework
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with partners in the community and within the University
  • Demonstrated ability to establish relationships with partners in the community and within the University
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal access, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in innovative research and scholarly activities

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience as the instructor of record teaching graduate level courses related to the field of organizational leadership
  • Experience with curriculum design and development
  • Experience teaching in an online, accelerated, and/or asynchronous environment
  • Experience directing academic programs in higher education
  • Experience recruiting, on-boarding, and supervising adjunct faculty
  • Experience recruiting community partners for experiential learning projects
  • Experience collaborating across disciplines within the University and surrounding communities
  • Experience with supporting and advising students

Job Duties:
A Faculty Activity Plan will be developed by the end of the first quarter of the selected candidates appointment and will consist of a combination of teaching (80%), service and research (20%) and/or release time to perform duties, as negotiated and as needed to meet the business needs of the department.
Additionally, all faculty are expected to:
  • Engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning;
  • Meet all scheduled classes;
  • Plan, organize and inform students of the course content, texts, readings, assignments, attendance regulations and methods of evaluation including grading scales;
  • Schedule and attend office hours;
  • Turn in grades according to established deadlines; and
  • Advise students who are declared majors on department, college and University requirements and career opportunities

Conditions of Employment:
This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.

All new employees must comply with EWU Immunization Policy 602-02 and provide proof of immunity or vaccination to MMR before beginning work at EWU. Waivers for the immunization requirements are available for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs.
