Position Announcement

The Planned Giving team works with prospects, donors, and professional advisors to acquire and secure deferred gifts, trusts, bequests, annuities, and other types of planned gifts to fundraise for Utah Valley University's growing population of diverse students. This position plays a vital role in supporting the institution's planned giving fundraising efforts.

Under the supervision of the Director of Planned Giving, the Planned Giving Coordinator will manage key projects and collaborate with both key external and internal constituencies to ensure optimal and impactful engagement experiences for planned giving donors. This includes collaborating on donor appeals, organizing events and meetings, data management and processes, and supporting donor stewardship and connection efforts. Additionally, the coordinator will provide support to other Institutional Advancement staff working with Planned Giving donors and prospects.

Summary of Responsibilities


  • Assist the Planned Giving team as the project manager and support and coordinate the development, execution, tracking and assessment of extensive fundraising initiatives, outreach efforts, and events focused on boosting donor participation and philanthropic revenue.
  • Responsible for coordinating a comprehensive calendar using project management software to manage project strategies, assignments and deadlines. Ensure the department website and marketing plan are up to date.
  • Maintain and update all Planned Giving files, gift relationships, and constituent records by coordinating with donors and financial professionals. Assist Director in opening and closing planned gifts, according to IRS regulations.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Financial Planning, Business, Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field, or Associate degree plus 2 years' experience in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Financial Planning, Business, Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field plus two years of experience in fundraising, financial planning, banking, accounting, data research, paralegal, or legal secretary.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Knowledge
  • Knowledge and expertise in use of English grammar, punctuation, and syntax for both written and oral communications and ability to learn subject-specific terminology for use in crafting development communications.
  • Knowledge of business practices, correspondence, and report generation.
  • Knowledge of best practices for organizing, managing, and tracking tasks.
  • Evidence of experience with institutional advancement, nonprofit, or higher education focus, or professional level business with administrative, customer service, client management, and retention practices.
  • Knowledge of fundraising procedures, techniques, and best practices, as well as legal, compliance, and ethical constraints.
  • Knowledge of and ability to conduct sophisticated research, analyze information, problem-solve, plan strategically, and make recommendations.
Skills
  • Innovative, strategic thinker with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and produce high-level results in a fast-paced environment with a strong work ethic, robust attention to detail, superb organizational skills and analytical abilities.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel, or equivalent, including data manipulation, mid-range formulas, and pivot tables, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Proficient in project management software, such as ClickUp, Asana, Monday, etc.
  • Experience with project mapping tools, such as lucid chart.
  • Demonstrated competency with a comprehensive and contemporary donor database system such as Blackbaud Raisers Edge preferred.
