Position Summary:
The Community Colleges attract students from a wide range of academic preparation to their two-year liberal arts degree programs as well as to their technical, occupational and career certificate programs. The assignment of students to appropriate courses and instructional levels depends on assessment of their academic preparation and, in many cases, requires remedial and supplemental instruction and assistance.

The Placement Testing Specialist assists in this effort by performing assessment testing of students' basic academic skills at a Community College. In some cases, the position may be assigned to a student services department to provide administrative support services in addition to testing. When assigned to an Academic Support Center, the position may be given tutoring, administrative support and personal computer work assignments.

Example of Job Duties:
Under the direction of the Director, Academic Support Center, Director of Admissions or other administrator, the Placement Testing Specialist is accountable for assisting in the operation of the College's learning assistance program through effective performance in these essential functional areas::

Test administration
- accountable for assisting in accurate assessment of student skills by performing test administration.
Administrative support
- accountable for assisting in the operation of an academic support service.
Training and leading assigned staff
- accountable for contributing to the efficiency of the learning assistance program by developing and leading assigned staff.

In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of: Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriately related field together with one (1) or more years of related experience; or a combination of education, training and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position's essential duties.

Incumbents are required to have demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following:

Computerized testing and instruction methods
Training and leading staff

Candidates must possess proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. They are expected to have excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.).

Starting Salary:
Minimum Salary; $58,550 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits. The salary will be based on the selected candidate's qualifications such as education and job-related experience, and internal equity.

Selection Procedure:
