Major Duties

Under general supervision, the Painter prepares and paints various surfaces under the oversight of the lead painter.

Brushes and sprays paint and works from ladders, scaffolding and rigging.
Installs drywall and does taping, mudding and sanding.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Progressively responsible training and experience which demonstrates achievement of journey-level skills equivalent to that acquired through completion of a standard painter's apprenticeship program.
LICENSE: Candidate must possess and maintain a Valid California Driver's License.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Work requires general knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in painting and finishing.
Must possess the ability and specialized skills to prepare and paint various surfaces under the supervision of the lead painter; brush and spray paint; work from ladders, scaffolding and rigging; install drywall; taping, mudding and sanding.
Must be able to properly estimate the materials needed for an assignment, read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position and keep simple records.
Must be knowledgeable of Cal OSHA safety requirements.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Classification / grade: 6526 / Painter / 1
The anticipated HIRING RATE is $6151 per month. The salary range for this classification is: $5355 - $7801per month.
HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; may require overtime.
TEMP: This is a temporary appointment; between May 1 and August 31, 2025.
