Reporting to the Manager of Employer Relations within the Career & Internship Center coordinates and leads efforts in employer relations. Connects employers with UVU and helps them recruit and engage with students. Builds lasting relationships with employers and UVU. Responsible for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platform job and employer management, connecting employers and university partners, data and reporting, and other related assigned duties. Hosts employers on the UVU campus for career-related events. Supports crucial efforts for the overall mission of the Career & Internship Center and UVU.
Summary of Responsibilities
- Builds and strengthens strategic relationships between employers and UVU to advance university-wide goals through targeted outreach aligned with workforce trends, including the UVU service region, Utah workforce needs, Silicon Slopes, and other economically relevant areas. Coordinates employer relations communications by connecting recruiters with campus stakeholders, fostering ties with colleges, faculty, and departments, and supporting internal team collaboration. Advises employers on recruitment strategies in higher education and provides strategic insight and recommendations to the Employer Relations Manager on outreach, engagement trends, and best practices. Serves as a strategic thought partner, contributing expertise and data-driven recommendations to center initiatives and campus-wide committees. Hosts employers for on-campus events, recruiting, presentations, and interviews, overseeing logistics and relationship-building needs. Handles issues of non-compliance with center practices related to on-campus recruiting.
- Manages data tracking and reporting for employer relations efforts including posted jobs and internships, events, interviews, outreach, etc. Evaluates, generates, and presents strategic reports that foster cross-campus informing of Deans, faculty, and staff that can use employment information to better UVU programming. Remains a content expert on current industry and economic trends, needs, and best practices for recruitment. Consults with employers and university professionals on challenges and successes for current and graduating students relating to employment.
- Manages job, internship, and employer aspects of CRM platform- Handshake. Meets with employers regularly to advise on Handshake utilization, best practices and recruitment strategies, and resolving platform questions and issues. Manages initial recruitment meetings with new employers. Tracks and reports on personal employer meetings, engagement, and JLD grant reporting. Evaluates and exercises efforts for specific employer relations KPI's and work to maintain numbers at expected levels of growth or increase.
- Fulfills professional roles at all Career & Internship Center events and fairs. Represents the CIC and UVU in many varying events throughout each semester, professional networking events, and community chambers or organizations. Supports internship services and college coordinators in areas and times of high demand. Travels to conferences and in-state events for employer relations professionals and career center personnel to build relationships and foster collaboration for best practices for universities and employers. Implements best practices within UVU's employer relations strategy.
- Participates in weekly meetings with different teams/groups within the center, and monthly on committees across campus. Fosters collaboration and contribute to the overall mission of UVU by bringing Career & Internship and Employer Relations knowledge, data, expertise, and recommendations to meetings and committees. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree or a combination of education and experience totaling four years.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional experience with employer relations, communications, or essential skills relating to position duties.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Knowledge
- Experience or familiarity with and ability to learn the following: Current social, economic, and employment conditions, trends, and job placement methods.
- Employment laws and university responsibilities in professional development.
- Marketing efforts on a college campus. Knowledge of job search methods, coaching, professional development, and career planning. Student development.
- Skilled with general computer software (Microsoft Office) and other office software.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Well-developed interpersonal communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and prioritization skills.
- Creative, innovative, and detail oriented.
- Experience with CRM a plus.
- Ability to work with individuals from multiple authority levels and diverse backgrounds. Ability to manage several diverse projects while simultaneously meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to be self-directed and to complete tasks without supervision.
- Ability to build professional relationships with current and potential employers.
- Ability to handle workplace disputes and tense situations of non-compliance or rule-breaking in a professional manner. Works well, kindly, and patiently with others.
