Job Summary:
The Summer Library Assistant will primarily work on library projects both individually and with members of a team. Up to 1-2 hours of each day may be spent providing customer service to patrons at the Library Services Desk. Library Services Desk staffing entails all aspects of circulating library materials using the library's online circulation module. This position provides basic directional assistance to patrons regarding the library and campus, helps patrons search the online library catalog, and answers the desk telephones.

This is a 4 month position ( (May 2025 through August 2025), 30-35 hours a week, non-exempt (hourly), non-benefits eligible position based in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.

Job Duties:
Reporting Relationships:
  • You will report to the Student Experience and Outreach Specialist

What You Will Do:
  • Core Material Handling & Organization: Arrange returned circulating materials on book trucks. Accurately reshelve library materials in the stacks. Collect and prepare in-house used books for reshelving. Verify the accuracy of book placement (shelf reading). Perform shifts of collection sections as needed. Perform inventories of assorted collections.
  • Patron Support & Retrieval: Search for missing or mis-shelved items requested by patrons. Visit faculty offices to assist with book returns and renewals.
  • Facility & Documentation Maintenance: Clean out lockers and study carrels, and verify key functionality. Edit library documentation, photocopy documents, and collate.
  • Non Essential Functions: The job description's listed responsibilities and tasks are not exhaustive, additional non-essential tasks and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, push, pull and reach above and below shoulders.
  • Ability to move objects (books and boxes of books) up to 25 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to climb and work on stools and ladders.

The offer rate will be based on a review of the candidate's credentials compared to the qualifications of the position, internal equity, and our overall compensation philosophy.
