Major Duties

Working independently under the general supervision of the Associate Director of Academic Analytics, the Research Analyst / Data Consultant leads complex institutional research and assessment projects to support data-informed decision making and strategic initiatives. The incumbent collaborates with campus stakeholders to define data and reporting needs, applying advanced analytic techniques to produce actionable insights.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to identify key metrics and reporting needs to conceptualize, design, and maintain advanced data visualizations, dashboards, and interactive reporting tools in Tableau, including creating and maintaining required datasets.
  • Leads projects involving national student surveys, and external vendor data requests.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university. Additional qualifying professional experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible technical research or statistical experience including or supplemented by one year in the interpretation and graphic presentation of data. Graduate study in the social sciences, economics, statistics, or public or business administration, may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience with working with a variety of campus audiences, including faculty, administrators, and staff, preferred.



Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Thorough knowledge of research techniques, including the planning of studies and investigations, the determining of variables, and the developing of reference materials; reporting techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of the techniques and treatment of data such as simple correlation methods, trend analysis, frequency distribution analysis, sampling techniques, and hypothesis testing.
  • Proficiency with statistical analyses and interpretation. Knowledge of and familiarity with social science research methods and statistical principles and procedures, those related to quantitative data and research. Knowledge of best practices in visual presentations of data.
  • Experience with business intelligence tools such as Tableau for creating data visualizations and dashboards.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse students, staff, and faculty.
  • Ability to: reason logically and capacity for independent and creative thinking on research problems; develop techniques for handling a large variety of detailed data and ability to analyze these data; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; speak and write effectively; analyze situations accurately and to adopt an effective course of action.


Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
  • The university offers an excellent benefits package, including but not limited to: medical, dental, vision, retirement & savings, tuition waiver, and more.
  • Classification: 5680 / Research Technician III / 1
  • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $5279 - $6195 per month, dependent upon qualifications and experience. The salary range for this classification is: $5279 - $9552 per month.
  • HOURS: Full Time; 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; may include evenings and weekends.
  • This is a Regular position with a one-year probationary period.
  • The position is currently hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
