Job Summary
This position will join the research group of Dr. Gang Chen and support his research funded by the National Science Foundation and Georgia Southern University. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will develop functional multi-component inorganic nanomaterials and inorganic nanomaterials/polymer composites for applications in electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, renewable energy, and flexible electronics.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement high-impact research projects including but not limited to: high entropy alloy nanocatalysts, smart nanomaterials, high performance nanosensor
- Set up and maintain experimental instruments and equipment
- Develop manuscripts and presentations containing results of assigned research findings
- Assist with development, edit and review project proposals, presentations, and reports
- Manage assignments to graduate assistants and undergraduate researchers as needed
- Oversee student researchers during laboratory experiments
- Oversee data analysis and data management
- Disseminate research results to scientific audiences through peer-reviewed journal articles, conference presentations, and other media
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- PhD degree in a relevant field (chemistry, physics, materials science, etc.)
Required Experience
- Expertise in inorganic nanomaterials and inorganic/organic nanocomposite materials
- Excellent laboratory skills in nanosynthesis
- Experience with common material characterization techniques, including HR-TEM, SEM, XRD, XPS, UV-vis, IR, and Raman spectroscopies
- Proficiency in text, graphics, and data processing software Lead author on publications in a closely related topic
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
- Research experience in electrocatalysis, photocatalysis, renewable energy, and flexible electronics
- Demonstrated project experience from design and data collection through interpretation and writing technical reports or publications
- Demonstrate ability to carry out research in laboratory setting while implementing these skills in new application areas
- Advanced data processing, programming, and/or modeling skills
Proposed Salary
$52,000 - $57,500
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
